How SISA Helped a Global Hospitality Platform Provider Safeguard Source Code Integrity Through Repository Exposure Hardening

A global cloud-based hospitality technology platform, serving over 20,000 properties across 90+ countries, faced significant security challenges due to its rapid DevOps deployment cycles. As the platform scaled its financial services and e-commerce capabilities, the need to maintain frequent feature releases inadvertently increased the risk of exposing sensitive assets and production credentials. The organization required independent assurance to identify vulnerabilities without slowing down their pace of innovation or compromising customer trust.  

To address these concerns, SISA conducted a comprehensive, phased web application security assessment. During the security testing phase, SISA utilized directory fuzzing tools and discovered that hidden Git paths were publicly accessible on production servers. This critical misconfiguration allowed SISA to download the full repository and use secret-scanning tools to uncover hard-coded database credentials and API tokens embedded deep within the Git commit history. The assessment validated a severe attack path that could easily lead to unauthorized backend access.  

SISA provided prioritized remediation guidance, enabling the customer to block exposed directories, rotate compromised credentials, and sanitize their repository history. By integrating automated secret scanning tools and pre-commit hooks directly into the CI/CD pipeline, the organization established stronger security controls without disrupting DevOps workflows. Ultimately, this proactive approach mitigated the risk of source code leakage and protected the company from potential data breaches and regulatory fines.
